Double the survival rate by 2020.

As the national leader in the fight against pancreatic cancer, we have a bold goal to double the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2020. The five-year survival rate lingers at just 6% and, in a recent report published by our organization, projections indicate that by 2020, pancreatic cancer will move from the nation's fourth to the second leading cause of cancer death.

Now more than ever, we must work harder and faster to grow our community of scientists, increase annual federal research dollars, enroll more patients in clinical trials and increase national awareness by attracting more volunteers and participants to our events.

Advance Research Discoveries
SUPPORT OUR COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY
Number of scientists studying pancreatic cancer

Knowing that research is vital to reaching our goal, we continue to build a robust, collaborative research community, attracting investigators to the field and funding top-notch science. To ensure that progress continues, we directly fund research, advocate for more federal resources, and facilitate interactions and collaborations within the research community. TO MEASURE OUR PROGRESS we will report on the number of investigators that make pancreatic cancer a major research focus.

Support Patients And Families
Learn about clinical trials
Number of patients enrolled in clinical trials

Clinical trials are critical to speeding scientific progress toward therapeutic breakthroughs. Ongoing patient participation in clinical trials creates more options and more hope. We are driving change to increase both the level of participation in pancreatic cancer clinical trials and the number of novel agents used in trials. To learn more, click here

TO MEASURE OUR PROGRESS we will track the number of patients enrolling in pancreatic cancer clinical trials, and the number of novel agents being tested in these trials, year over year.

MOBILIZE THE TROOPS
PARTICIPATE IN AN EVENT
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AT PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK EVENTS

We have created a movement in communities across the country, building a groundswell of awareness and support. Run by our passionate volunteers, our national events raise millions of dollars to advance research, support patients and create real hope. Community involvement advances our efforts on every front. Participation in our national PurpleStride continues to climb – proof that pancreatic cancer will no longer take a back seat to other national causes. To participate in our events and volunteer opportunities, click here.

TO MEASURE OUR PROGRESS we will report on the number of participants attending Pancreatic Cancer Action Network events and becoming part of the movement.

BUILD AND SUSTAIN FEDERAL SUPPORT
BECOME AN ADVOCATE
DOLLARS FUNDED ANNUALLY FOR PANCREATIC CANCER RESEARCH

Increasing awareness and federal research funding of pancreatic cancer requires aggressive advocacy. Advocacy helped to secure passage of the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act (formerly the Pancreatic Cancer Research & Education Act) by the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill still needs to be passed in the Senate. This legislation will create a scientific framework for accelerating progress and improving outcomes. With the federal government allocating less than 2% of its annual federal research dollars to funding pancreatic cancer research, our advocates will remain vigilant. To take action, click here.

TO MEASURE OUR PROGRESS we will report on research dollars invested in pancreatic cancer.
